How we prepare our pupils for scholarships and other awards

All our pupils are assessed during year 6 for their potential to achieve scholarships and other awards. In the summer term parents are invited in to discuss the findings of these assessments and then the pupils are set into two streams for years 7 and 8 during which an individual plan is followed for their development. Those pursuing Art Scholarships have extra lessons on Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings, during which they are given dedicated help to produce a portfolio of work. Special Educational Needs provision

At King's School, we consider it essential to assess our pupils on their arrival, so that we pick up any special educational needs requirements and these can be addressed without delay. If you are aware of any special educational needs that your child has before they enter the school, please discuss these fully with our Special Needs coordinator, Mrs Wendy Simmonds, before you accept a place for your child to ensure we are able to fully meet their needs.
